IMB

تسهيل النكاح

One of our six core goals

Simple Process

The most blessed marriage is the one whose expense is the easiest. Dowry, show and needless conditions make marriage hard; Islam taught us to make it easy.

The Sunnah of simple marriage

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told Abdur Rahman ibn Awf (may Allah be pleased with him): hold a walimah, even with a single sheep. In the Companions' marriages the mahr was easy, the arrangements simple and religiosity was the yardstick.

What makes marriage hard

Dowry demands, writing a huge mahr with no intention of paying it, show-off functions, interest-based loans and the mindset of "I will marry when everything is perfect". These open the door to delay and sin.

How to make it easy

A brief nikah and an economical walimah; a mahr within means and payable; a dowry-free marriage; a transparent proposal with the guardian involved; and a correct Nikahnama and registration so there are no complications later.

How IMB helps

We have arranged the whole process step by step — application, verification, introduction, proposal, nikah and registration — so applicants do not have to handle everything alone. The fees are clearly stated; for women, applying is always free.

Evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah

أَعْظَمُ النِّكَاحِ بَرَكَةً أَيْسَرُهُ مَؤُونَةً

Common questions

Is the walimah obligatory?

Not obligatory, but a confirmed Sunnah for one who can afford it. Holding it simply according to your means is the Sunnah.

How much should the mahr be?

In the Hanafi view at least the equivalent of 10 dirhams of silver; there is no upper limit, but fixing an amount within means and payable is right.
